Chef Joe Gentempo is the mastermind behind the Parkwoods menu of modern yet approachable American fare, while lead bartender Darius Naderi crafts culinary-inspired cocktails that change with the seasons.
If there's one thing Joe Gentempo knows after more than 20 years in the restaurant business, it's quality ingredients. Houston-born Joe learned the ins and outs of the food world while still a teenager, sitting in on sales meetings with European truffle purveyors and prosciutto vendors while working for a specialty foods company. After graduating from the University of Texas, Joe went on to attend The Culinary Institute of America at Hyde Park. Since then, he's worked his way through kitchens from Austin (Trattoria Lisina) to California (4 Saints, Hog & Rocks), even being named a Chef to Watch by the San Francisco Chronicle.
Born and raised in Atlanta, GA, Naderi moved west to attend San Francisco State University, where he graduated with a degree in Communications. Knowing little about cuisine and spirits before moving, he soon found himself immersed in San Francisco's gastronomical explosion of the early 2000s and began dabbling in the bartending arena. Working his way up, Naderi was presented with the opportunity to open the Ame bar in the St. Regis hotel in 2005; he credits Ame as the place where he acquired much of his food and beverage education and training. He then became a mixologist at Michael Mina's Bourbon Steak at the St. Francis hotel before later becoming Lead Bartender and Trainer at A16 in Oakland in 2013.
Georgia beckoned him back home in 2017. He spent a year at King + Duke before taking on this new opportunity. Here, Naderi leads an elevated bar program that offers guests fresh and inventive cocktails, regional craft brews, and a wine list focused on American-made wines. When he's not behind the bar, he can be found traveling or exploring Atlanta's new restaurants and many neighborhoods.
